Open to students in 5K-8th Grade
Sponsored by Richland County 4-H
Cost: $10.00 per child. Includes all class supplies. Maximum cost per family = $30.00
Parents/guardians are welcome, but not required, to stay during the event.
There is an optional session for parents listed below.

SESSION ONE
Yo-Yo Skillz
Want to learn cool tricks with an everyday toy? Discover how to throw a sleeper, walk the dog or land a man on the trapeze with an ordinary yo-yo.
Blast Off with Rockets (Sessions 1 &2)
Come explore the science behind rockets! Build a working model rocket. Launch a stomp rocket.
Decoding Horse Behavior & Tack
Learn about basic horse behavior and discuss what equipment is used when working with horses.
Shades of Nature: Charcoal Drawing
Love to draw? Learn how to draw flowers or plants in charcoal.
The Magic of Shrinkydinks
Transform simple sheets of plastic into mini masterpieces. Draw, color, cut, & watch as your designs magically shrink in size and harden into key-chains, charms and more!
Knitting Isn’t Just for Needles
Learn a new and exciting way to knit with your arms. You will knit a scarf to start, but once you become skilled enough, you can learn to make a blanket.
Let’s Go Green
Dig in and learn about houseplants. You will get to select a houseplant and plant it to take home!
Take the Stage!
Step into the spotlight in this fun-filled theater workshop. Learn basic acting skills through games and skits.
SESSION TWO
Be a Wildlife Detective
Can you identify the animal signs and solve the mystery of what animal left the signs behind? Clues will include animal tracks, pelts, homes and other signs the animals may have left behind.
Game On: Pickleball!
Join us for a fun-filled 50 minutes of pickleball! Whether you are a beginner or seasoned player, this class will cover the essentials – serving, dinking and hitting. You’ll improve your skills and have a blast!
Basic 3D Needle Felting
Learn how to shape wool into a cool 3D sphere key-chain without threading a needle or tying a knot. Use wool’s natural felting ability to make a simple key-chain to take home.
Unlock the Art of Fancy Writing
Discover the magic of beautiful lettering. Grab a calligraphy pen and learn cool techniques and various writing strokes to create stunning words and designs.
Do You Want to Want to be a Veterinarian?
Learn from a local veterinarian about the internal organs of cows, sheep & pigs and how they keep these amazing creatures alive.
Make Your Own Animal Friend from Beads
Learn how to make a beaded animal key-chain. You will also take supplies home to continue the fun after the class.
Plant Power: Growing a Healthy Garden
Get your hands dirty as you start seeds for your garden. Discover how flowers & herbs help with pest control. Learn which flowers & vegetables grow best together.

First Aid Heroes – Be Prepared, Stay Safe!
Learn basic first aid skills. You’ll discover how to treat minor injuries using everyday supplies. Plus, you’ll take home your very own beginners first aid kit–perfect for your backpack.

Does your family have plastic bags cluttering up a closet? Learn three basic sewing techniques to make your own plastic bag holder.
Bracelets – Where Style Meets Sophistication
Use beads to design a bracelet to suit your personality. Learn the basics to create a charm bracelet and leave with a one-of-a-kind accessory.

Grow Your Greens: Micro-greens and Chia pets

Learn how reptiles & amphibians adapt to their surroundings (Session will have live animals.)
What is 4-H? (9:15-9:45 a.m. Optional session for parents) Have you ever wondered “What is 4-H?” Join us for coffee during Discovery Day to learn about opportunities for your child through Richland County 4-H.
